Old-Florida Beach Town on A1A

Townhouses & Duplexes in Flagler Beach, FL

Welcome to Flagler Beach, a small Flagler County city on the Atlantic between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, known for its historic pier and unspoiled, old-Florida coastline.

Flagler Beach is a small city in Flagler County, Florida, on the Atlantic Ocean between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, along the A1A scenic highway. With a population of about 5,700, it is part of the Deltona–Daytona Beach–Ormond Beach metropolitan area, yet it has held onto a distinctly old-Florida, small-town character that sets it apart from the larger coastal cities around it. The area's modern history began with a 1909 land development that marketed parcels to families seeking a new start, and the town that became Flagler Beach incorporated in the 1920s. Its landmark is the Flagler Beach Fishing Pier, built in the late 1920s at the foot of the town's main beach street, which remains the hub of beach activity and a symbol of the community. The shoreline is the town's centerpiece. Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area protects nearly three miles of unspoiled beach where visitors swim, sunbathe, and surf fish, while the Atlantic and the nearby Intracoastal Waterway support shore and boat fishing for redfish, snook, flounder, and more. A boardwalk and small oceanfront businesses keep the beachfront walkable and low-key. The town's scale is part of its appeal. With no high-rise towers, Flagler Beach keeps a low-rise, human-scale built environment where most everything sits within walking or biking distance of the water. Its economy is built around tourism, fishing, and small local businesses, and the community has consistently favored preserving its unpolished coastal character, attracting surfers, anglers, retirees, and young families alike. Flagler County Schools serves the community, with Old Kings Elementary School located in Flagler Beach. The city is laid out on a narrow strip between the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, with homes and businesses oriented toward the water, and it is often described as one of Florida's last authentic beach communities.
